What
Am I?
Question:
Am I lesbian, bi, or straight? Im so glad you found our group, and
that you were brave enough to post so soon. There are a lot of women in very similar
situations as your own, so you are not alone.
Did you download How To Be A Happy Lesbian: A Coming Out Guide?" Theres
a lot of information in that book that you may find helpful.
As far as sexuality, there is a really simplistic way of looking at it, and figuring
yourself out can only be as hard as you make it. The bottom line is this:
Do you like having
relationships with men, sexually, physically, emotionally, spiritually and any
other ally there may be?
Do you like having relationships with women, sexually, physically, emotionally,
spiritually and any other ally there may be?
If
the answer to both of these questions is equally yes, then I would say that you
are probably bisexual and you dont prefer one sex over the other.
If you like one over the other, then you may be bisexual but prefer men or women.
If you find that you just really dont like men in any way but as friends,
then I would say you are lesbian.
If you find that you just really dont like women in any way but as friends,
then I would say you are straight.
This is a very general way of looking at things, because I believe there is always
a person who can get into our hearts no matter what their gender might be. I know
its scary and difficult to realize you may be bisexual or lesbian, but you
are the only one who can figure out your own sexuality.
If you need more help than we can give you in this group, then you might need
to find a trusted therapist. Make sure to read that chapter in the Coming Out
Guide. You may want to find someone who is open to counseling people in the LGBT
community.
A bit of advice: just because someone is a therapist, does not mean that she is
not homophobic. Ive met plenty of homophobic therapists, so make sure that
you ask up front how the therapist feels about bisexuality or lesbianism before
you ever start. It will save you from possible problems just in case you may be
lesbian or bi... Coming
